Terrapins need your help this Friday Feb. 23rd and Wednesday Feb 28th!
You can help your mascot by submitting a letter in support of permanently protecting them to the Senate's and House's environmental committee members so they can review it while voting on the bills.
The committee's staff will assemble a "for" and an "against" folder for each representative so this is an important way to show support for these bills.
To submit your letter to protect terrapins there are a few simple guidelines:
1) Reference SB532 & HB760 at the very top of your letter.
2) Make copies for the committee members.
- Make 25 copies for the Feb 23rd Senate Environmental Matters Committee hearing &
- make 40 copies for the Feb 28th House Education, Health and Environmental Services Committee hearing.
3) Mail or bring them with you by 12:00 pm (the very latest) the day of the hearing. The committee's staff office is just outside the hearing room.
4) If you can't attend or deliver copies of your letter, please feel free to email us your letter ahead of time - we would be honored to help and distribute it for you.

We have a sample letter available for you to personalize. Knowing how little time the representives have for all the bills they hear each day, one recommendation is to state what it most important to you early on in your letter and keep your statement to 1 - 2 pages if possible. Another suggestion it to attach appendices that support a cover page of bulleted points as a way to facilitate their reading of your letter.
